A bit dated in some cultural references now, but The Gospel Blimp story itself was very meaningful to our church small group during our current neighboring study and initiative, and several of the other parables still hold up in their themes. I lost my old copy along the way some way and was happy to recently revive my reading of this long-time favorite.Product details

Very interesting and filled with irony from beginning to end. This book challenges in a unique way unlike most books I have read before.
This is a satirical look at the concept of how a "program" impacts a community. It shows negative effects of an idea that started out with good intent. It contrasts the huge ballooning of an "idea-made-corporate" with the enduring simplicity and effective simplicity of quietly loving others and being a good friend.
This funny book is as entertaining today as it was back in the sixties.
The message is as important today as it was then too...a one to one with someone beats all the external stuff that's done to influence someone to a personal relationship to Christ.

I'm begging you to read this book. The brilliance that come from Bayly's pen is only trumped by the next story. This compilation was so very well put together, it started with a bang and didn't let up. I'm putting in my children's required reading list. I require you to read it as well.
This book is a classic! Read it years ago, and enjoyed it the second time through. A great example of hypocrisy with a tongue-in-cheek flavor! Should be in every church library!!!
Joe Bayly's parables will make you stop and evaluate yourself, your way of thinking, of viewing the world. Most importantly, you'll be challenged to reflect on your faith and where you have let yourself be beguiled by your own self or others.
Contemporary parables for people who do not get offended easily and who see through the politics and policies of the local church. There is a refreshing way Joseph Bayly makes a point without actually saying the point.You have to "read between the lines."
